Zero pesticide residues

Zero pesticide residues

THE FIRST OIL IN ITALY CERTIFIED WITH ZERO PESTICIDE RESIDUES*
A zero that is worth gold. Over 260 quality tracked tests.

We wanted to create an extra virgin without pesticide residues. We did it. It’s our “Zero Pesticide Residues”, the fruit of the work of people who have believed in a truly innovative product: an oil that passing more than 260 tests creates higher standards of quality, safety and biodiversity. A concrete example of Costa d'Oro's commitment to Planet O-live and to a roadmap of sustainable agriculture, more respectful of biodiversity standards.

*Residues <= 0.01 mg/kg. Finished product certified by SGS Italy.

Goal

  • Providing an extra virgin that creates a new standard of quality and food safety. "Zero Pesticide Residues" means, in fact, the guarantee that there are no residues of synthesis phytosanitary products in the finished product above the analytical quantification limit for the more than 260 components defined by the voluntary list defined set out in the Disciplinary Regulation, which can be consulted here.

  • Encouraging Responsible Consumption: we consider it a value to accelerate the ecological transition and drive the change towards healthier and more environmentally, economically and socially sustainable product standards.

  • Incentivizing Responsible Production through the promotion of a zero residue product and the dissemination of good agricultural practices that promote an approach to minimize pesticide use and respect for shortage times.

  • Raise awareness and train our employees on new standards of excellence for product’s quality and safety.

“Zero pesticide residues” means that none of the researched pesticides have been detected above the quantification limit of 0.01 mg/kg (limit chosen in accordance with the indications of Reg. 396/2005 and subsequent amendments).

The molecules taken into consideration were selected from Regulation 396/2005, the agrochemicals database and the European Community database. The selection took into account both possible direct application in the cultivation of olive trees and possible cross-contamination (e.g. presence in irrigation water or in the cultivation of land adjacent to olive groves).

The list was drawn up by collecting data and historical series of molecule measurements from category associations, leading producers of measuring instruments, external laboratories specialised in microbiological and biochemical analysis in the food sector, and experts from the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies.

The list is reviewed annually and updated whenever one of the parties with whom the list was drawn up deems it necessary.

Next steps

Distribute ZERO on a large scale to offer as many people as possible an extra virgin olive oil that rewrites the rules of excellence in terms of quality, safety and raising awareness of sustainable agricultural practices.
